WOW!
It has been a long time! I am knee deep in gourd Santas, Snowmen and gourd ornies!
In between a college visit, gourds, a huge water leak (really no water at all), gourds, basketball games, gourds, soccer games, gourds, opening a new large clothing boutique, gourds and my favorite holiday Thanksgiving.........I am happy to say, I am alive and well!

I am very proud to say that our son Zane has been accepted to Penn College in Williamsport, PA! We now have water! Yeah! Our daughter Abbie is a fine basketball player at 9 years old! My friend Lola and I opened a new large clothing boutique "Big Girls"don't cry when you shop here! (Look for my new facebook page coming soon!) opened without a hitch! and my Thanksgiving was great.

Oh yeah, Blue Rock Gourds is still pumping out gourds, gourds and more gourds, here is a sneak peak for Christmas! I will be listing many Christmas gourds on my Facebook fan page! Thank you!

Hello! Happy Summer!!
Summer is here! Yeah!! BRG is booming and blooming with gourds, craft shows and markets.
We hit the beach last week for the Cape May NJ Boardwalk craft show. We had a blast!
The vendors were great, the quality of artwork was great and the weather was perfect!

Cape May is a beautiful little Victorian town filled with history. I could have stayed for the week.

This weekend BRG is local, at the Columbia Craft & Antique Show in downtown Columbia, PA.

Good Morning!

What a beautiful day! I am heavy into gourd production, but all is good! We are into the Spring Garden Markets, Festivals and Herb Fairs. Check out my new items for Spring! Butterfly Houses. These gourd houses make great homes for the butterflies. They like to sleep inside at night with all the rough material. Also a great tip: Add the rinds of any citrus fruit to the house and you will attract more butterflies, they like to suck the nectar. How cool is that! I will be listing them in my Etsy shop, available in red, mahogany, blue green, yellow and orange.

The Curiosity Shoppe Lititz, PA Refresh!

Redesign, Repurpose & Refresh, that is what this beautiful shoppe in Lititz, PA is all about!

I have had the privilege of being a vendor for this shoppe and it has been a wonderful experience. If you are ever traveling and looking for a fun day of shopping, antiquing and food, visit Lititz. It has it all!

I love to street sell and last Friday I was set up on the streets of Lititz in front of the Curiosity Shoppe selling gourds. A little chilly but that did not stop the crowds. I had a blast! The girls at the Curiosity Shoppe are amazing and one just happens to be my wonderful cousin, Robin. Kim the Proprietor is the best, always helping the customers find that special gift. She has a gift for decorating and it shows within the rooms of the shoppe. This shoppe is two floors of vintage china, signs, dresses and jewels, plus a mix of new and primitive items. The best part is that the prices are great. You could spend hours within the rooms of the Curiosity Shoppe, redesign, repurpose and refresh! Take a day trip today!

This is a non-gourd post, believe it or not! LOL!

I took Abbie to a roller skating party over the weekend and had a blast! But it did make me reminisce about my BEST friend in the world, Missy. Missy and I have been friends since birth, girl scouts, boyfriends, college we even had our children 3 weeks apart at the age of 40! That is brave, yes we are very brave. Over the years she has still remained my go to girl for everything, my dear, dear friend. The only problem is we live on different ends of the earth, Missy is in California and I am in Pennsylvania. But as I was helping Abbie with her roller skates, I was smiling inside thinking about our big adventures at the Mt. Gretna Rink.....so ya do the hokey pokey and you turn it all around! What a month December is turning out to be! Gourd craziness!

I had the PLEASURE of meeting a very wonderful lady, Sue Donohue.

Never realizing her family was famous in the car racing field, her son David Donohue http://www.rsportscars.com/eng/articles/record_carrera.asp (great link, check it out). I meet Sue at a craft market and she contacted me to do a home show. BRG never did a home show but what the heck let's try it! It was a blast! I called it a "Gourd Gathering". Sue was a gracious hostess and her friends were lovely.

Of course I have been thinking about these "Gourd Gatherings" and in the New Year and I will be releasing my new home party plan for "Gourd Gatherings and I am currently looking for representatives in the USA! What a whirlwind of a weekend! BRG was at the Mushroom Festival in Kennett Square, PA. Great festival!! If you ever get a chance to experience the Mushroom Festival go, go, go! It is amazing!! We ate a new fried delicacy "shroomies" mushrooms, jalapenos and cheddar cheese fried..............yummy!

Gourd mushrooms were flying out the craft show tent!

My mom is our custom painter for BRG..........she is amazing! We got a custom order for the American Gothic couple. Her work is one of a kind! Just look what Magi came up with..........................How wonderful is this American Gothic couple! She has a true god given talent. Ocean Grove NJ, Angry Squirrels & Gourds Galore!

What at fun weekend! Long and tiring and I am getting a cold but........all is good!

BRG had a first time show in the state of New Jersey, Ocean Grove. What a beauty of a town! Gingerbread homes, Victorian elegance and wholesome life.........we fell in love!

The craft show was great, the mix of crafters were really nice, fresh and all handmade, no imports!

I met a really great domino jewelry artist, Natalie and we exchanged all kinds of craft and show tips. Thanks Natalie! Being right on the boardwalk on a beautifulllllllll day was the best part!

New Jersey gals were complaining about squirrels, they claim their squirrels are angry and mean.

Gourd tip: Yes squirrels can destroy gourds..............but keep your gourds high and don't add any food to your houses and you will be angry squirrel free!

Halloween is flying out the craft show tent................I will be listing all Halloween on Etsy, here is a peek..................BOO!

Hello it is spring, well sorta, it has been very chilly in Lancaster county. Thinking about gourd planting but....just too cold! It all starts with a seed, a small little seed and look what you can grow!

This is a curly dipper, when the gourd is soft during the growing season you can form the gourd to any shape. This is not an easy task, but if you master this you will be amazed at the different shapes and sizes you can grow.

My new favorite is the warty hard shell. Look at these babies! Full of warts........this would make a great natural toad house for your backyard. Stain them and they make a stunning centerpiece for your table. This is a new variety of gourd that has not even been added to the gourd chart yet! 2009 has arrived!! Woo Hoo!

We had a little impromptu party for New Years Eve and it was great!

Such good friends we have!

Monica and Joe and the kid Brownee! Monica is my long vintage buddy, love ya!

Lori and Cork, who are parents to Zane's buddy Alex. My new friend, who is a lot like me!

All the kids were present, Cat, Zane, Alex and Harry. It was sooooooo nice to see Harry, we just love him! My sister Heidi and neighbor Ed escaped the camera! I will get them my pretty! Here is Momma and Zane, greatest kid on earth, oh how I love you!

We had fireworks and lots of snacks and a champagne toast at midnight! Oh what a night!

New Year's Day was a sleepy day, the whole family came over for pork and sauerkraut, yum!

The sauerkraut had to be hidden from Cat, she loves it! And here we are at dinner! Happy New Year! I hope all your dreams come true! Wendy

Hello fellow bloggers and friends,

I am starting to feel like myself again! Yeah!!

My family gets together every Christmas for the annual cookie bake and this year my Abbie was large and in charge of rolling the dough for cut out sugar cookies. We had a great time, sugar cookie cut outs, pecan balls, chocolate chips, snickerdoodles, sugar overload!

After the cookie bake we always go on a Christmas light tour. This year we went to Christmas Magic in York, PA at the Rocky Ridge Park. What a wonderful display of lights.

Here is me and my girl on that cold winter night.

Next we went to the Santa Claus room. I think this is the cutest pic of my Abbie! I hope she belives forever!

I LOVE A PARADE!!

Gourd Evening!!

This is my time of the year! Pumpkins, GOURDS, Halloween and parades! We all went to the Columbia Pa Halloween Parade. My beautiful niece Catherine was marching in the parade with her baton school.

My sister Heidi lives in Marietta, Pa the town beside Columbia. Both towns are rich with history. Sorta a Civil War Federal vintage town, the homes are beautiful and the people are great. Nestled by the river, the Civil War soldiers would stay in these towns on the way to Gettysburg.

Columbia was like New York City, bustling with people in the streets just waiting for the parade, the spooky sights and all the candy! Of course all the street vendors selling balloons, pretzels, neon necklaces, hot dogs and coffee.

Abbie had her picture taken with the balloon clown who made a twisted flower and dog balloon.

All the batons flying, veterans bands marching, the smell of fresh peanuts in the air, candy being thrown from fancy cars, clowns on motorcycles, spooky goblins, ghosts, witches, well I think Laurence Welk sums it up!

Pika Party!! ABBIE IS 7 YEARS OLD!!

What a great weekend!! My Abbie is 7! October 18th! She shares her birthday with my Sister Heidi and that is special enough! So Abbie was 7 and Heidi was 25 plus 20!

We had a very busy day, baseball at 9:00, soccer at 11:00, Pika Pokemon Party at 3:00 and Party at Magi and Poppy's at 6:00!

Abbie's Pokemon Party went great I made the Pikachu hats and bags for the party and it was at the Country Barn in Mountville! Awesome place for a party! Hayrides, gem mining, corn maze, horsey rides, pigs, cows, goats. We all had fun!

It is Sunday night and I am beat from the party weekend.

Tomorrow I will be back craftin for the holidays and I will be tell all my fellow bloggers about my new promotion!! We will want to tune in!!

THE DAWN OF A NEW DAY, NEW LIFE

Gourd Evening,

I am back from my long weekend at Leesport Harvest Craft Fair. What a long, tiring weekend. What used to be are best show has now been hit by the hard times are nation is facing. We still sold lots of gourds and meet lots of nice people, but the mountain was empty with vendors who didn't come back to try it again. The crowds we just passing by and looking. We are thankful for what we sold and so happy to be going back in November. It really makes you wonder how we can save our nation.

Here is a typical day on the road for a craft show. Me and my beloved Gourdfather start out early before the sun has come up. He loads everything in the truck the night before and we make our pilgrimage to Turkey Hill for coffee and I have to talk to my peeps at the Hill.

We chat on the way, he chats, I sleep. We arrive just before sunrise and unload the van, or Milty unloads the van, I sleep. I mean I start displaying gourds on ladders.

Dottie and George beside us are always set up and ready to go by the time we pull into our spot.

Soon our stand is full of gourds and sunshine, ready for the day.

It is always so nice to be HOME at the end of a long weekend!

I came home to a beautiful sight on my door, a praying mantis and if just made me feel like we all will get through these hard times and be stronger people and we will have a stronger nation. Also with my own struggles in life and what I will be facing at the beginning of November, I will be fine, I will be strong and I will survive.

Last night was a milestone!

Our son Zane is now 16!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ZANE!

We had the whole family over for a Chinese buffet, Zane's favorite and we had presents and cake! Good times!!

Magi, Poppy, Heidi and Catherine and all of us were singing him the birthday song!

He is very excited about driving my car! He took it for a spin in the backyard, watch out neighbors! He will be a very responsible driver I have no doubt!

You turn around one day and they are 16! I can remember the day I had Zane, best day of my life.

You are a wonderful guy.....don't ever change.

Well, here it is Sunday night and the weekend is coming to a close. We had a great show at the Apple Fest in Darlington Maryland.

What a quaint little town. The beer at the Susquehanna Inn was great also after the show! Great food and beer! We always stop for dinner after a show and it is crazy and fun at the Inn.

At the fest Abbie had her hair painted pink and purple. She also painted some pottery for Zane's birthday and got plenty of tattoos!

The show was packed with lookers and shoppers.

We had are best display ever!! What a beautiful picture of our gourd apples!!

Could there be?? Craft Addiction?? I think I need a 12 step program. I dream crafts, work crafts, do crafts......ok, ok come back down to earth Wendy, I am just so pumped up about this weekend's craft show. It is just such a nice day for me and Milty, "The Gourdfather" we get to talk to each other and spend the day together.

We miss the kids but Magi and Poppy will be with them for the day!

I am also excited about some press I received! Thanks to Sovereign Bank in Millersville, Pa!

They have selected Blue Rock Gourds to be the business of the month!! Woo Hoo!! I went today to jazz up the bank with gourd creations and did a nice bulletin board spread on the business!

I decided to dedicate this blog to all my x's in my life, but in particular you know that one that still gets you!!Hey don't get me wrong.....DON'T WANT HIM, HAD HIM, DON'T EVER WANT HIM BACK! But come on girls the one that could have been the what if?? Well thanks to my Sister, she remembered his birthday that was a couple of days ago, how she remembered that I'll never know?But I heard a song on the way to work that sorta sums it up...Of course I picked the vintage version with my favorite 9-5 gal Dolly.Check it out!

I know it is only September, but today in the mail I got the most awesome bonsai hand made pot from a fellow crafter in CA. It also came with a nice little starter bonsai clipping. Love it!! The packaging was beautiful. Thanks, Victor!

Tonight was "Meet the Teacher" night at Dewie's school. Mrs. Shover, she is a lovely woman and is crazy about Abbie, (that always helps!)She said "Abbie is a lovely young lady and very responsible". Abbs you make Mamma PROUD!!Tonight was also "Meet the Teach" for Zane.........he did'nt want anyone to go! Milty went and we got all the stuff on teaching your child how to drive! Kill me now!! Zane on the road!

We are winding down from a great weekend, First Friday, family movie night on Saturday Eve, Fool's Gold check out the trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IInvMZcE-Y, my gosh Matthew is hot! and just chillaxing on Sunday after church. Yeah! The EAGLES WON!!We took a break from gourds and me and Dewie made a DESIGNER DOG DISH for our beloved Johnny!

Check out our dog fag art project!!!!!!!!!! I love it and so did Dewie, are you thinking what I am thinking, yes they are going into production.Hand crafted by local Amish men, hand stained and personalized by me with your dog's name. I won't be using the stickers on the ones I will list in my Etsy shop.....Johnny's is a one of a kind!I have to make up some display pieces and i will be using my two favorite dogs, Brownee and help! I can't remember your dog's name Lisa Flood! Brain Freeze......but he will be used as a model also. For Brownee, it will be stained in red adorned with jewels. For Lisa's it will be stained black adorned with metal spikes. Hope you like them, they will be yours when my pictures are loaded on the shop. Check out the pics!

of course you can request your family names on the bone bowl or other small illustrations. I will also feature a cat bowl from Sissy's Cat Ranch and Rodeo....I think that cat's name is Floyd.Well another weekend of craft heaven!!
